eBay listings for PS4 reach outrageous prices

Ever since Sony stole the show at E3 this year the PlayStation 4 has become the hottest must-have machine in recent memory. Pushed even further into the limelight partially thanks to Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 is now sitting pretty with demand for the machine reaching record numbers. Gamestop and Amazon have stopped taking pre-orders for the PS4 due to high demand. If you’re hoping to be one of the first people to get your hands on the shiny new console then your options for securing a day-one console are severely limited at this stage. Sellers on Ebay hope to capitalize on this by hiking their prices for launch PlayStation 4 machines to as much as 3x the retail price.

Yes you read that right. The PS4 has a handful of listings on Ebay reaching as much as $1200, if my calculations are correct (they usually are), this is triple the price that official outlets are charging. What makes this even more disturbing is that these people are actually getting bids. I can appreciate gamers wanting to get the PS4 ASAP, but paying $1200 for a machine that normally costs $400 is a little hard to comprehend. Why so impatient people? Wait a couple weeks for restocks. It’ll save you 800 dollars.
