LEGO games have been around for a long time, and have been released on almost every modern video game system imaginable, from the iPhone to the Xbox One, and everything in between. When the Nintendo Switch launched in March of 2017, everyone knew it would be the perfect system for Travelers Tales LEGO game, and so far, they haven't disappointed with the release of LEGO Worlds, and now, the LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game. LEGO Ninjago is much like previous LEGO licenced titles, but one major twist: improved combat that suites a Ninja lifestyle!

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game doesn't break a ton of new ground for famed developers Travelers Tales, but the game does enough to differentiate itself for the dozens of other LEGO titles currently available across almost every gaming platform imaginable. If you are familiar with LEGO Ninjago, you'll know that in the movie and show, Ninja combat is at the forefront of almost every encounter. It makes sense, then, that Travelers Tales would rework the standard LEGO game combat to better fit the Ninjago franchise. From what I've played, it works really well!

With the LEGO Ninjago Movie releasing in theatres today, and the LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game hitting stores shelves, it is important to not forget about the third peg to this stool: the actual LEGO sets that have been available on the market for a few weeks now. If you've been a lifelong LEGO fan such as myself, you'll know that many LEGO Themes have come and gone. Some popped up around specific movies or events, such as the LEGO Harry Potter sets which launched between 2001 and 2011, or those related to the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. However, these themes are not LEGO creations, but rather areas of the industry were LEGO flexed their financial muscles, and locked down a lucrative contract. Recently, I found a number of Ninjago sets on clearance at my local Walmart, and was able to pick up Set 70594 The Lighthouse Siege for a mere $40! Obviously, for 40 dollars it wasn't hard to go wrong on this 700+ piece set, but even at it's full retail price of 89.99, I think there is great value here, both in terms of build quality and play ability!

Last week, Warner Bros. PR in Toronto, Ontario, sent over a bunch of Ninjago play sets for LEGO Dimensions. Over the past few days, my six year old son Logan and I have been building the sets and exploring the Ninjago world. When it comes to this series, my son is the expert, so most of the thoughts and opinions are his. Lets break down what we received from Warner!

Lego Dimensions is releasing their own toy to game series in September with the starter pack hitting stores in September, today there were other packs confirmed as well.
