Kirby Star Allies

Kirby Star Allies has been available at retail and via the Nintendo eShop for a number of hours now, and many people are likely to be diving into this experience this weekend. We've compiled a few tips from our play through that might help you maximize the fun you'll have with the game. Check them out below, and let us know what things you would suggest!

Our good friend Abdallah has been feverishly working on Kirby Star Allies content for his YouTube channel, and during the wee hours of the morning, his first episode was hitting the tubes! Not only is Abdallah doing an entire Let's Play of the game, but he is also holding a contest to give one of his lucky viewers a copy of the game! Like Mario and Zelda, Kirby is another of the Nintendo franchises that has refused to quit over the past 25 years, and for good reason: despite the 'easy' nature of these games, they continue to appeal to the broader Nintendo fan base, taking the world of platform video games and delivering it to a wider, more accessible audience. Like the Kirby games before it, Star Allies continues the trend of mixing easy gameplay with charming visuals and audio. Does the package work when stuck together? Despite the easy nature of the experience, we think so!

I haven’t always been a Kirby fan. In fact, I didn’t know much about the big pink fur ball until the Wii Virtual Console. I saw the NES Kirby game for download there and thought, “Why not?” and downloaded it. And with that, I was a Kirby fan for life! That said, I have always liked the more traditional Kirby eats everything games more than the other more gimmicky games (though Kirby Robobot was pretty cool). So Kirby Star Allies…
