Far Cry 5

Like its two predecessors, Joseph: Collapse is another classic, distorted character, but this time set up in the twisted version of Far Cry’s Hope County, Montana. Ubisoft says the experience that follows will allow players to tap into Joseph’s tortured mind, face off against his former followers after his faith collapsed, and end up confronting his family members while he tries to conquer his inner demons.   The game again is set up exactly like the other two DLC episodes…

Ubisoft released a number of fantastic games in 2018, and any one of them would make a fantastic gift under the tree for that special someone in your life...may be yourself! It's not often a single studio can have multiple home run hits in a year, but somehow Ubisoft managed with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Far Cry 5, The Crew 2, and their newest IP, Starlink: Battle for Atlas. Everyone will agree that Far Cry 5 was a bit of an odd release, although it did fit slightly into the political climate in the United States. Still, we know that Ubisoft always likes to mix in a bit of fiction into their somewhat plausible story lines, and with the next bit of DLC, this will be fully realized. Aliens. Aliens are threatening Humankind, and Nick Rye and Hurk will need to battle them off. Who's ready to roam Mars?

One of the better addition to the Far Cry formula with the launch of Far Cry 5 was the host of additional characters within the game that you genuinely cared about. So often I felt myself wanting to know more about a specific person, their back story, and how they ended up in Hope County. And thankfully, through DLC, Ubisoft has allowed us to get some perspective on these other characters.

When I heard there was going to be Far Cry 5 DLC coming, I assumed that at the most, we would be exploring a different part of the United States that was also being threatened by a cult, and at the least, we would have more adventures within Hope County, Montana. I was incredibly misinformed and flat out wrong, as the newest DLC pack for Far Cry 5 - launching June 5th - will transport players to Vietnam!

Prior to the release of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Toronto released a 30 minute short film titled, "Inside Eden's Gate." This short film was previously just available via a paid subscription service, but Ubisoft announced this week that the film was now viewable on YouTube, via the official Ubisoft channel. Far Cry 5 launched today across the world, on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4; if you had the opportunity to read our review-in-progress, you'll know that we absolutely love the game, and almost everything it contains! With a host of new features, and a new formula for game progression, Far Cry 5 is setting itself up to be the best in the franchise, and for good reason. When a franchise gets into it's 4th or 5th title, sometimes bad habits or complacency sets in and what consumers ultimately get at retail is a paired down, lackluster experience that disappoints in many ways. Ubisoft themselves have been partially guilty of this, especially when you look back on releases like Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed Unity. However, this is a company that has learned from the past, and the recent release of Assassin's Creed Origins is proof that Ubisoft knows how to create fantastic experiences.
