505 Games

Koji Igarashi’s gothic side-scrolling action RPG Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, from developer ArtPlay and global publisher 505 Games, is available beginning today digitally and at major retail stores worldwide on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with its launch on Nintendo Switch arriving next week.

If you've come here expecting a full fledged review of Payday 2, you might be a tad disappointed. While we will definitely touch on the gameplay elements, it is a game many years in the making and YouTube will ultimately be the best example of what the game has to offer, thanks to the numerous game play videos. Instead, the focus here will be on how Payday 2 translates to the Nintendo Switch. With a game so reliant on voice communication, can the verbally inept Switch provide the gameplay experience required to make Payday 2 a good buy? Let's take a look.

About a week head of launch, 505 games sent out a press swag bag to promote the launch of Last Day of June. Knowing this was the same team that published Portal Knights - a game I really loved - I jumped at the opportunity to get a hold of their next published game. When the care package arrived at the door, it included three items: a short note written on a card from 505 Games, a pair of glasses that matched the ones Carl wears in the game, and a box of tissues. The second I saw the tissues, I knew that, in their eyes at least, 505 Games saw Last Day of ...

Last Day Of June is launching soon on PS4 and Steam, and you can now get a bundled deal on Steam which includes both a copy of the highly anticipated Last Day of June and the previous hit, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, which I really enjoyed! While I can confirm that the latter is a fantastic title, I feel pretty confident that Last Day of June will be equally as exciting! Portal Knights has been one of my favorite titles in 2017, and while many are simply calling this a Minecraft knockoff, I'd challenge that and quickly show how unique and different Portal Knights really is. In fact, I did do that, when I wrote my review for Portal Knights! There was one feature that I've wanted for a long time now, and although it isn't coming to console (yet), it is coming to PC. Ladies and gentleman, you can now play with a friend, but in separate worlds!

It's refreshing to see developers create a different kind of game then what they're typically known for. Starbreeze Studios is famous for their gritty shooters (The Syndicate, The Darkness), so it is a little strange to see them collaborate with Swedish filmmaker Josef Fares and create a thoughtful adventure game like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It was certainly a risk, but it's a risk that paid off.
