Nintendo announces Hyrule Warriors (Zelda Musou)

Hyrule Warriors/Zelda Musou, is a brand new action fighting game scheduled for release on the Wii U sometime in 2014, and is being developed in collaboration with Tecmo Koei, creators of the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

The game is set in The Legend Of Zelda universe, but looks to be offering players a more Dynasty Warriors style of gameplay, creating a kind spin-off action game which sees Link wielding his trade mark weapons, such as the Master Sword, Fire rod and Bombs, and battling waves of familiar foes such Dodongos and Bokoblins, in a large a scale environment.

Not much else is known about Hyrule Warriors/Zelda Musou right now, however the game’s more action heavy focus has already resulted in divided opinions amongst the fanbase. Some see it as a brand new departure for the franchise, something fun and easy-to-play that’ll tide them over until the next full Zelda game. Others are less sure things will pay off, are angry even. Why would Nintendo even dare to try something so different, so common with one of their most beloved franchises? Personally though, I’m a huge fan of both The Legend Of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors, and am looking forward to seeing more from what looks to be an interesting an exciting collaborative effort.
