Valorant Tips & Tricks

Released on June 2nd, 2020, Valorant blends together the best components from popular games in the tactical shooter genre: Counter-Strike and Overwatch. Shooting mechanics and the economic system is inspired by CS, whereas the rich-detailed characters with unique abilities and complex maps are akin to those of Overwatch. These components offer players thrilling and near-limitless possibilities and replayability.

As with LoL, Riot actively develops and expands Valorant by releasing new agents, maps, guns, and balancing patches. Currently, there are 12 agents, 4 maps, and 17 guns to play with, and these numbers continue to grow. With so many combinations of skills, characters, and maps, it is easy to get confused and become easy prey for more experienced players. But don’t worry, without further ado, let’s find out how to become a true deadly agent on the battlefields of Valorant.

Choose Your Agent

There are 12 Valorant agents to choose from. The newest agent, Killjoy, was released on August 4th. These are all the agents divided by their roles:

  • Initiator (Breach, Sova) – forces enemy agents to regroup; it is especially effective on assaulting positions
  • Controller (Brimstone, Omen, Viper) – can reduce enemy vision or zone them out with area control abilities
  • Duelist (Reyna, Raze, Phoenix, Jett) – quick and deadly; specializes in fast elimination of the enemy team agents
  • Sentinel (Cypher, Sage, Killjoy) – defensive experts; they can protect and cover teammates with their abilities

You should choose a role that suits your playstyle best. For instance, Duelists and Sentinels are best fitted for a newer player because their abilities are not that critical to use. Choosing an Initiator, like Sova, will be fatal for you because this role heavily depends on the timing and placement of your abilities, while aim is not that crucial.

We also don’t recommend picking a Controller as your first agent, since the learning curve for playing them is quite high, and their abilities are very situational. To use their skills correctly, you need at least some experience in predicting the enemy team’s actions and landing a perfect counterattack. In case you need any help with the game don’t hesitate to try Valorant boosting service. It’s a great choice if you want to save your time and enjoy the game.

There Are No Better Agents

Remember one important truth: in Valorant, there are no best or top agents. Everything depends on your skills as well as the capabilities of your teammates. Another agent can counter every agent, and for the current moment, your aim, tactical movement, and decisions play a major role in achieving victory.

Watch the Economy

The success of a team in Valorant primarily depends on communication during the preparation phase, even before the start of the round. With money, you can buy weapons and abilities.
Let’s say there’s a situation in which you won 5-6 rounds in a row without dying. You will have enough money for a couple of full loadout purchases. You can share these funds with teammates who died during previous rounds and are now struggling to buy top-of-the-line weaponry. This way, your team will get stronger and will be able to cover your back in difficult situations.

Avoid Split-Second Decisions

Although the rounds in Valorant are limited to a few minutes, rushing to act before thinking is bad. In most cases, your negligence will end in death. The time to kill in the game is short, and you won’t be able to respawn until the next round. In addition, it’s easy for enemies to hear your character sprint, so it will give away your position.

It’s better to try to plan attacks with your team. This way, you aren’t running blindly into bullets; rather, play from your opponents’ mistakes. Think about positioning and imagine what is happening as a game of chess.

Stillness is especially important when shooting. Even if your agent is walking slowly, his accuracy is significantly reduced. Therefore, when firing, it is worth stopping completely or even sitting down – this way, you will have full control of your shots.

Don’t Forget to Use Abilities

As trivial as it may sound, some players rely on aiming, which is quite logical and correct. Nevertheless, if players have roughly the same aim, the one who correctly uses abilities to their advantage will win. Do not forget that abilities provide significant benefits; for example, Sova can scout the area before attacking, Raze can blast things with his rocket launcher, Sage can heal and resurrect allies, and so on.

Agents’ Little Tricks

Let’s dive into some special tricks.

Sage

Sage is a popular agent who perfectly honors two sides at once: attack and defense. The most important feature of this character is the ability to revive allies. But even before considering Sage’s ultimate, you should take a good look at the “Barrier Sphere” skill. This ability is very useful for blocking the attacking side or closing the passage, but few people use it to hide the spike.

The trick is straightforward – if you play for the attacking team, place a bomb in the corner and cover it with a Barrier Sphere. Thus, you gain time, as the wall is not destroyed quickly (it can absorb 2-3 clips of the Vandal assault rifle). This way, you can ensure victory for your team. Also, this method works in diffuse; just sit down near the bomb, and close yourself off with a Barrier Sphere wall. There should be enough time to defuse the bomb.

Brimstone and Sova

Another feature with a plant. If you are left alone and have planted a bomb, but you understand that there is no chance to defend it, then shoot right above the planted bomb with “Shock Arrow” (Sova) or “Incendiary Grenade”(Brimstone). Thus, even after your death, you will not make it easy to defuse a bomb, since an arrow or grenade will not immediately fall on the site, but after a few seconds.

Brimstone

While playing defense in bombsite C, you can throw an Incendiary Grenade directly into mid. This feature is handy, as the enemy will think that you are in the “B” or mid lane, but in reality, you are not there. You can use this to your advantage and safely smear enemies at the beginning of the round.

To fire the Incendiary Grenade at the mid lane window, you need to stand in the corner near the on-site crate C; this is the very last crate, and it is located near the wall. After that, you need to aim the sight in such a way that your Ability HUD is located under the roof.

Sage

Few people know this, but when you’re on the attacking side, you can jump onto the balcony from the bomb site. This isn’t easy to do, since you need to catch the moment. To jump onto the balcony at bombsite A, you’ll first need to climb onto the boxes located under the balcony. Next, select the wall skill and set it up so that it is straight, not horizontal. After that, aim the sight in such a way that it is located between the shadows from the boxes and tiles.

Now run forward and jump, and as soon as you see that the wall pattern has appeared on the box, immediately activate the “Barrier Orb” ability. You will find yourself on the wall and can then easily jump to the balcony.
