More Thoughts From Me #188: Is the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Out Yet?

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake, well at least the first part of it, is coming out next year! We’ve learned a lot about the game recently and seen a ton of footage. I’m pretty excited for this one. Time to dive into the info and tell you why I can’t wait to play this remake!

Final Fantasy 7 remake will be coming out in March 2020. From what we know of the game, it only takes part in the Midgar section of the game. Square Enix has said though that, despite being part of a larger game, this will feel like the size of a full game. I’m very excited for this remake!

We’ve seen a lot of footage of FF7R. At E3, in the last State of Play, and most recently at the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix has shown us footage of Midgar, the battle system, and plenty of Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aeries.

One of the most exciting things that was revealed recently is that there will be a “Classic Mode” for the battle system. In this mode, the characters will fight on their own until your battle commend menu is charged. Then you can pick what you want the characters to do via a menu. This mode is meant to be very close to how the game played on the PS1. While I do wish there was a traditional turn-based system, I still think its very cool that this “Classic mode” will be included. I can’t wait to try it out!

Even so, the action battle system looks pretty cool. Most of all though, I love the game’s graphics. Final Fantasy 7 looks so amazing.

In the most recent Tokyo Game Show footage, we saw a few classic FF7 moments recreated in the new engine, such as Cloud working out at Gym, a hint of Cloud’s crossdressing sequence, and more. It looks like this remake’s storyline will stay very close to the orignals. Hey, if they want to leave out the death of a certain character later on I’d be ok with that…

Final Fantasy 7 Remake looks like it’ll keep everything we loved about the original, graphics better, and a lot of other modern aspects like voice acting. If you’re a FF7 fan, why wouldn’t you be excited for this game?!

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming out on March 3rd, 2020. Let me know what you think about the game in the comments!

Next week: I’ll tell you what I think of Dragon Quest 1 for the Nintendo Switch. How does the game look? How does it play? Is it worth a download?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Wish I could play the FF7 Remake now!
