microsoft_aufmacher_0

Phil Spencer has confirmed that Xbox One will support backward compatibility.

There will be over one hundred Xbox 360 titles available by this holiday, and more coming in the future, retail discs will also work with the Xbox One. During the E3 announcement, Mass Effect was shown as a demo on the Xbox One.

Digital downloads will start showing up in your game library automatically. You will still need to download the game when using your Xbox 360 discs.

Developers and publishers just need to approve what titles work with backwards compatibility with no other additional work on their part.

Xbox One backward compatibility is available now for preview members and will be available to everyone this holiday.
