Super Geek Box June 2016 – Villians Review

This month I received my very first Super Geek Box, and I am super impressed with the quality of the contents versus the price of the box. The value in this box exceeded the 20-25 dollars it costs (in the United States) to have this shipped to your door. Check out our unboxing video for the Super Geek Box June – Villians directly below, and look past the break for a complete breakdown of each item with pictures!

The ‘Filler’ Items: Pins, Key Chain, Sticker

IMG_7828 When I use the term ‘filler’ items this is in no way a knock on what is actually included. In fact, filler items are some of the best items in any box. The Harley Quinn Queen card sticker is pretty awesome; although I’m not a huge Harley Quinn fan, I know a lot of people who are and they have all indicated that this is the type of item they would love to get in their boxes. Like I’ve said with subscription boxes in the past, I completely understand that I will not always like every item in a box, but that in general, I will like most of what is included. This sticker is alright, and that is fine by me!

The two buttons included are pretty neat. I especially like the Team Rocket button! Like with any buttons I get in a subscription box, the value is pretty low, but they make nice additions to my over the shoulder gaming bag. They also can be great conversation starters, and on more than one occasion, I’ve just given the buttons to random people who seem to really enjoy them. These items might be small, but they are appreciated none-the-less.

The Chain Chomp key ring is the best filler item in this box, as it will serve a practical purpose. Again, this is also the type of item that I can easily give to a friend or sibling if they really like it. Cheap enough to pass along without feeling bad, but awesome enough to use yourself if you want too!

Pokémon Wallet

While I wouldn’t say the Pokémon wallet is a great item, it definitely is a unique one. When my wife saw the wallet, she mentioned that it could be something she would stick into her purse for storing bills, although she did say she wouldn’t have folded it. Whether you fold it or not, it once again is a small way to show the world you are a pretty big nerd, but completely proud of it! The quality of the wallet is really great, although I was disappointed to find a small knick in mine!

The Stormkoopa Drawstring Bag

If you ask me, one can never have enough drawstring bags. They come in handy in some many situations, and having one as awesome as this to tote around items is really cool. It also combines too things that I love in a very clever way: Storm Troopers for Star Wars and Koopa Troopa’s (did I spell that right?) from Super Mario Brothers. So, you essentially have a stormtroopa! It really is too bad that this design is not on a tshirt, but perhaps someday in the future! The build of the bag is passable, although I wouldn’t ever trust putting a heavy item in it. Again, a minor complaint for an otherwise outstanding product!

Blue Deadpool Mopeez Plush from Funko

I really enjoy getting plush toys in my subscription boxes because they bring so much joy to my kids. Although my son doesn’t – and frankly shouldn’t – know a lot about Deadpool, he does love plush toys! I got the grey Deadpool in May’s Lootaku box, and while I do wish I got one of the other non-Deadpool plush toys, at least I did not get another grey one. For those that like collecting plush toys, be assured that Funko is only providing the best quality plush, and not a cheaply made product. For now, this will look great next to my grey Deadpool on my shelf in the office!

Zelda-Star Wars tShirt

The best item in this months box is the Zelda Star Wars crossover tshirt that depicts a Toon Link who has obviously crossed over to the dark side. While my wife had a hard time connecting the two franchises, I felt that this shirt was brilliant! Not only does it look great, but it is unique enough to turn heads when I wear it out and about. And with only so many of these shirts out in the wild, and since I live in a really small town, there’s a good chance I won’t see someone else wearing it! I love this tShirt, and it is definitely a candidate to be one of our Top 5 items for June 2016!

Conclusion

Overall, the June Super Geek Box is a pretty big hit in my house. The best two items are definitely the tShirt and the drawstring bag, but all the items are pretty neat. Overall, for the roughly 15-20 dollars you will pay for your first month – 20 to 25 after that – you are definitely getting a good value from this box. We score June’s Villians box an evil 8.0/10!
