Bioware Tease Mass Effect 4

dragon age-1_690x344 MassEffect4

Bioware gave the first details on Mass Effect 4 today, and while there was a lot of flowery words used about moving the franchise forward, very little space was given to actually discussing the potential of the game itself. With that said, we got a nice look at some of the artwork for the title, and it looks like it’s heading in the right direction.

While it’s hard to see it as a proper reveal, we did find out that the developers are looking at ways of moving past the Mass Effect trilogy, onto new worlds, new characters and new skill sets. Worlds look colourful and fresh, while characters are familiar but new. It’s not enough to sell us on the whole idea – a few pictures and a little hype doesn’t a game make – but it’s a nice start.

The potential of a Mass Effect on new-gen consoles is too much to ignore though. Bigger environments (perhaps with a return of vehicles), plus a smoother mode of transportation while flying and fewer loading screens could make an action-RPG that’s less waiting around for things to happen, and more of the stuff you love. Hopefully Bioware do what they can before the inevitable reveal this time next year.
