More Thoughts From Me Special Edition: Animal Crossing New Horizons Looks Incredible!

Nintendo had an Animal Crossing New Horizons Nintendo Direct today! And it. was. amazing! Let’s talk about that AC Nintendo Direct!

The Animal Crossing New Horizons Nintendo Direct today was jaw dropping. Never did I expect that there would be so many new things shown during the Direct. It would be impossible to cover everything, but I’m sure going to try! Lets cover them in categories:

Recap: When Nintendo said they were going to recap what we heard before, I felt a little nervous. As it turned out, we only got a little bit of the same information. Nintendo absolutely expanded on our knowledge of the beginning of the game.

I was so happy to see that we can pick the map of what our town will look like. It looks like we do this before we even step on the plain! I’m sure this is also where we pick our face too. The character customization in New Horizons was teased later and it looked so neat.

Getting to the island though, we saw that you can place your tent anywhere. You can also place the tents of your animals and the shops.

New Stuff: Ok, we’re starting to get into new stuff. There was so much. Time to get into subcategories:

Shops: We found out that shops will be in your town. You unlock them as you go and can actually decide where they go in your town! The Able Sisters, the Nookling shops, and more are back.

Visitors: Kicks, Harvey, Celeste and others will visit your town. They will sell you stuff and talk to you about other things. And our old friend Wisp can appear at night sometimes!

The Museum: The museum is much bigger in this game and looks so amazing. I may never want to leave!

Building Your Island: In New Horizons, we’re getting more freedom with the town than we’ve ever gotten. The town upgrades start when Nook’s office is upgraded. Then you can choose bridges and other things to put into your town. Isabelle comes along to help ol’ Tom Nook out. Later though, we’ll be able to actually change the layout of our town by adding paths, destroying land, and adding land! The possibilities look to be endless. My jaw is on the floor still.

Various things: We saw the inside of the airport and it was jaw dropping. So much bigger than I thought it would be. We can visit our friends towns from here or they can visit us. Players can also go our tours of deserted islands!! Wow.

And we saw so much new furniture, house upgrades, the new Able Sisters shop, the new Nooklings shop, and I know I’m forgetting a bunch of stuff. Oh wait! amiibo support. We’ll be able to use amiibo to call animals to our campground and have them move in. It looks like we’ll have our options to get various animals to move to our town too. I saw glad I still have my amiibo cards though.

Holidays will be added in via updates! I guess that would give them more time to create and translate events. I wonder if they’ll add anything else via update!?

Finally, I know I’m missing something. I’ve forgotten to talk about something. I’ll have to rewatch this Direct again and talk about more in another More Thoughts.

I do have one possibly negative thing to mention though. It looks in-game chat is being put on the Nintendo Online App!!! Keyboard chat was not shown in the actual game but it was shown on the Online app. Doesn’t look like we are getting voice chat there. So does that mean you won’t be able to talk to people unless you have Nintendo’s real smartphone app?! I hope this isn’t so…

Anyway, the amount of new stuff in this 25 mintue Direct is freaking me out! I was already was hyped for this game! But now I’m even more hyped. I just can’t believe what we saw.

IS IT MARCH 20TH YET?!

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I NEED THIS GAME NOW!
