Should Anyone be Surprised by Nintendo NX Rumors?

Nintendoe3_690x429

The Internet is heating up today as analysts begin “informing” the public that Nintendo will begin releasing details of the Nintendo NX in April or May, with a full reveal in June, likely at E3. Is this really news? Did we not all expect this to happen? I think most gamers and media individuals have been calling for an NX release in time for Holiday 2016, which I would argue runs from October onward.

It is nice to get this information, but to see the Internet ‘blow up’ over it seems a bit much, no? Of course Nintendo will tease a few details about the NX ahead of its official launch. Of course Nintendo is unveiling this console at E3 this year; and of course it will get a Holiday launch – when else would you release it?

What I am more interested is in people’s opinions on how Nintendo might unveil the NX. Will they return to a stage show for E3 2015? I would have to assume a Direct Video Announcement will not carry the same affect as a live stage show. And outside of the actualy console itself, what games might we see on on the NX at launch? The new Zelda titles seems like a slam dunk, as does a 3D Mario adventure. Will we get Mario Galaxy 3? Will we get something that hearkens back to the Mario 64 days?

Only time will tell, but for me, it is what launches beside the NX that I am most intrigued by.
