More Thoughts From Me #157: Checking Out Dreams

Dreams is a Playstation 4 exclusive game that will let you create your own video game (and other stuff), share it, and play other people’s creations. If you played LittleBigPlanet, you’ll have an idea of what Dreams is but only know the half of it. The LittleBigPlanet series is great. I love it. Dreams is not out yet, but I can already tell you its bigger and better than LittleBigPlanet. How? I got to play the recent Dreams beta on…

More Thoughts From Me #156: The Boy Who Would Be Ni No Kuni King

Briefly, I had the PS Now service on the Playstation 4. I got to check out Ni No Kuni (PS3) through it and liked it alot. However, I was unsure if I’d like Ni No Kuni 2. No turn-based combat? ugh. Then I saw the game for $20 at Walmart and couldn’t resist it. Now that I’ve played it, I can tell you what I think of it. Spoiler: its awesome! Ni No Kuni 2 is better than the first…

Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics

“Ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn. In his house at R’lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming.” H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu If you’re a horror fan, you know who H.P. Lovecraft was. Even if you’ve never read any of his stuff, you know that he was a master of the horror genre. Many horror writers/artists/etc have taken inspiration from Lovecraft. So it should come as no surprise when horror video games borrow from the writer. Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is inspired…

Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey Review

In my preview for Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser's Jr's Journey I mentioned that I had never played Bowser's Inside Story before. So when it came time to do my review, I decided to not compare the game to the original. In fact, I decided to not compare the game to previous Mario & Luigi games at all. Basically I wanted to ask: Is Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey a good game(s)?

Here are my first impressions of Mario + Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr’s Journey! I have never played Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story before. When I saw it on the…

Mutant Year Zero main

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Review

Released last December by developer The Bearded Ladies Consulting and publisher Funcom, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is a turn-based tactical RPG that utilizes elements of real-time stealth and an intriguing storyline to bring an experience that can only be described as a next-level XCOM. The devs draw this parallel themselves, and with the two so closely linked, one has to wonder if Mutant Year Zero can do enough to set itself apart from its own inspiration. Let’s dive in and find out!

tropico 6 1

Tropico 6 Beta Access Preview

While not slated to be released until January 25th, 2019, the latest from developer Limbic Entertainment and publisher Kalypso, Tropico 6 is already available via Beta Access for pre-purchases. As someone who has a rather complicated relationship with the Tropico franchise, I approached the Tropico 6 Beta Access with cautious optimism. It is always a hard job to review a game before its official release. There are bound to be bugs and issues, but it would be unfair to dwell on those and not judge the game for what it will look like when it is fully released. ...
