With the launch of the Nintendo Switch, it is inevitable that companies are going to start pumping out accessories for the system, some officially licensed, and others not. Performance Design Products (PDP) have been making officially licenced Nintendo products for a number of years now, and have once again obtained the blessing of Nintendo to do it again. Last Friday, a few of these items came to me from PDP, and for the most part, I'm really impressed.

I suppose my article is not 100%, because 1-2-Switch COULD be the Wii Sports of the Nintendo Switch, or for that matter, the Nintendo Land of the Nintendo Switch - for those of you who only lived through the Wii U generation. The game has everything you would expect from a pack-in-title: mini games that are very accessible, good modes to play during parties, and more. Unfortunately, 1-2-Switch is not a pack-in-title, despite the fact that it should be.

It's hard to believe that I'm actually playing Breath of the Wild right now, and it is freaking me out a little bit. As fans, we have waited a LONG time for this game - originally scheduled to just be released on the Wii U, or so we thought - and to finally have it on the Nitnendo Switch is a dream come true. Let's face it: it has been a LONG time since we have played a new Zelda title on a home console, with the latest few releases being remakes of older titles. Although I cannot get too in depth with my Breath of the Wild preview, I can talk about a few things...

The Wii U user interface was very blocky, bland, and somewhat aimed at kids. Sure, it was easy to use, but it wasn't as visually appealing as what we got out of the Xbox One and PS4 interfaces. The Nintendo 3DS, while like the Wii U in it's blocky look, eventually gave gamers the option to customize their home screens, keeping the child like presence and appeal, but giving older gamers a chance to make it different. With the Nintendo Switch, it appears as if Nintendo is attempting to streamline their UI and make it more user friendly, and overall, more appealing.

Although the Wii was a relatively well built console, nothing Nintendo has built to date rivals the quality of the Nintendo Switch. The Switch has the unique purpose of being both a home console and a portable device, which required special engineering to ensure that nothing was left out, and that build wise, it was solid.

It is almost March 3rd, but thanks to Nintendo of Canada, we have had the opportunity to pay around with it, 1-2-Switch, and the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild over a week early. While we are not allowed to publish scores and final thoughts, a number of things have surfaced for me - positives and negatives - that I will discuss over a series of articles.
