Smart New Disney Lorcana Packing – New Box, Old Cards

Getting a mystery box at an event is one of the most fun things you can do. Generally, though, it’s a well known fact that mystery boxes are just full of things that a company wasn’t able to sell through regular channels, so they create some mystery around what you might get and entice you to make a purchase. That is essentially what Ravensburger is doing here with their latest Lilo and Stitch inspired ox, but there are a few added bonuses that make this an intriguing purchase none-the-less.

The Lilo Gift box provides a number of great benefits, including 60 cards spread across 5 booster packs, cardboard dividers for sorting your cards, a special promo card featuring Lilo and Stitch, and a storage box that resembles the ones you can get from Pokemon when you get the Elite Trainer Boxes. At an MSRP of 29.99 USD, it’s not a terrible value for what you get, and getting just one is a nice trip down memory lane.

While the dividers (a bit flimsy and cheap) and the storage box are nice to have – I can never have too much storage for my Lorcana card! – I loved getting the Lilo and Stitch promo card, as well as opening 5 booster packs spread across the various chapters already released. For some, getting cards from older releases isn’t really that enticing, and so likely they will pass on this product. But this was a fantastic opportunity for my wife and I to relive those early unboxings we did and enjoy some of our favourite cards in the process. It really was a trip down memory lane.

Ultimately I understand what Ravensburger is doing here – they obviously are not producing more packs of these older sets simply to make these packages. This is overstock most likely, but I think it’s packaged in a really smart way. Sure, they could heavily discount these through Booster Boxes, but that’s not really fun for anyone, is it? I fully recognize what Ravensburger is doing here, but I also fully support it. This was a fun way to look back at previous chapters while getting a cool promo card and a box that I want for my collection!
