Disney Lorcana at Epcot International Festival of the Arts

At this year’s Epcot International Festival of the Arts, Disney Lorcana is invading the World Showcase and it was a pretty good time. Disney generally runs really great events, and in partnership with Ravensburger and Lorcana, this was an amazing additional FREE activity for everyone who attends (while supplies last each day).

You begin by picking up your Disney Lorcana bundle that includes a small booklet with activities and information about the game, a sticker sheet, and pack of cards from the Archazia’s Island set. The are three promotion cards that can be earned during the event, one of which does involve purchasing the Archazia’s Island Illumineers Trove from the gift shop. The other two just take a bit of work!

We already wrote an article about what you need to do to earn your promo cards, so you can read that here. This is purely my experience after spending the day at Epcot. A big thank you to Disney for having us out!

I think the entire process was pretty seamless, and we arrived right when things opened up and barely waited any time to pick up our packets and start working on the tasks. While there was a bit of trading happening in The Odyssey Pavilion, as well as a lineup to redeem tasks for promo cards, the bulk of the trading was happening at the Moroccan Pavilion. In Morocco, there were cast members and a giant board for trading in case you couldn’t find the cards you needed, which I thought was a nice touch. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the cards we needed on the board when we arrived, but I think it’s a nice way to potentially help people who haven’t found what they are looking for yet.

As with all of these Quest events – trading cards to hand in 4 specific cards for a promo – the Lorcana community is so incredibly welcoming. In Morocco, there were many folks sitting around with large tables filled with cards, willing and ready to trade. I spoke with one individual who was an annual pass holder, and had been going to Epcot once a week to set up in the Moroccan Pavilion and trade cards.

I found a range of different people at the event. Hardcore Lorcana collectors were there, no doubt about it, but also a ton of kids and families looking to get into the game. There was this weird third group of people who took the cards and just couldn’t figure out what it all meant. One lady did say that if it wasn’t for my wife and I explaining how the game worked, she would have had no idea. I think some screens in the specific areas might have helped, with videos on how to play and how it worked!

Overall, though, I think it was a fantastic and satisfying experience, and completely free of charge! Finding and looking at all the oversized Lorcana card art around the park was great as well – they were getting photographed A LOT!
