Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Review

It's refreshing to see developers create a different kind of game then what they're typically known for. Starbreeze Studios is famous for their gritty shooters (The Syndicate, The Darkness), so it is a little strange to see them collaborate with Swedish filmmaker Josef Fares and create a thoughtful adventure game like Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It was certainly a risk, but it's a risk that paid off.

New Kingdom Hearts III Trailer Has Arrived

Fresh from Disney’s D23 Expo in Japan is the latest trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, the long-awaited sequel set for release sometime in 2014 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. The footage is from a Japanese demo, showing off Sora, Donald and Goofy as the fight bad guys in this action RPG. Visually, it looks pretty good, with updated, smooth textures and animations that capture the Disney look-and-feel of the franchise.  It seems to feature the same ...

Grand Theft Auto V Out for PC Early 2014

It appears that PC gamers, particularly those among the (almost) 600,000 that signed this Change.org petition, are going to get what they want. As Eurogamer reported earlier, according to multiple industry sources, Grand Theft Auto V will be released on PC during the first quarter of 2014. Who these sources are is currently unclear, but it stands to reason that this news is probably accurate given Intel’s claim that they don’t expect GTAV to be just ...

NBA 2K14 Review

While EA has cornered the market on NFL games (by default, really), 2K has appeared to do the same with NBA sports simulations. While publisher Take-Two Interactive has been accused of just releasing roster updates with these annual releases, their series has been known to take risks and tweak major gameplay elements on occasion. NBA 2K14 continues this tradition to a degree, but it's not as crafted and accessible as it should be.

Lost Planet 3 Review

Lost Planet 3 is quite different from its predecessors. Opting to take a more Western approach to the series, Capcom turned to the American developers over at Spark Unlimited in an attempt to make this third installment more appealing. The franchise doesn't have a great track record, receiving low marks from both critics and gamers, so it's no surprise this game hasn't been getting much attention. It's a shame, really, since it has some pretty good stuff to offer.

The Raven Legacy of a Master Thief Review

After playing through chapter one of The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief, I walked away with mixed feelings. The puzzles were a mess, and the story was a downright bore until Constable Zellner hopped aboard a ship headed to Cairo to continue his search for The Raven, who is hell bent on stealing the second Eye of the Sphinx. It was during this final act, with the murder on the ship, the detective work that followed, and the cliffhanger ending, where the game ...

Killzone Mercenary Review

There have been plenty of attempts to recreate the first-person shooter experience on handheld, many of them either missing the mark or ending in a complete disaster. Well, Sony and Guerrilla Cambridge have aimed to change all that with Killzone: Mercenary, a spin-off of their popular console franchise that puts players in the role of Arran Danner, a gun-for-hire soldier willing to take on any dirty job, as long as it pays well.
