Super Mario Bros. Wonder Review

I’ve never been a huge fan of 2D Super Mario Bros. games. I’ve dabbled in all of them, and even enjoyed a course or two, but it’s been a while since I actually finished one of those games from the beginning to the end. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is hitting differently for me. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older and the simplicity of 2D intrigues me, or if Nintendo is doing something wonderful – see what I…

Ticket to Ride Berlin Review

I always like to write decently long reviews for board games, but I think this one might be our shortest. That is not a knock on Ticket to Ride Berlin, however, but rather a testament to how quickly the game can be played and how simplistic yet deep it is. There have been a lot of small box Ticket to Ride games over the years (San Francisco, Amsterdam, New York) but I think Berlin is quickly becoming my favourite. If…

Star Wars Unlimited Trading Card Game Launching March 8th 2024

Fantasy Flight Games is one of my favourite board game publishers, publishing great games like Descent: Legends of the Dark and Lord of the Rings: Journey’s in Middle Earth. Many folks have gotten their hands on Star Wars Unlimited, the newest trading card game from Fantasy Flight Games, but a release date wasn’t available. Until now. Star Wars Unlimited will drop on March 8, 2023. About Star Wars: Unlimited: A fast-paced, dynamic game that is both easy to ...

EA Sports FC 24 Review

With the FIFA tag gone, Electronic Arts has used their own branding on this years soccer release. While the FIFA name and imaging has been removed from the franchise, everything else remains. While this isn’t a huge leap over FIFA 23, there really wasn’t much that needed to be changed. EA Sports FC continues to be the best game produced by EA Sports, and for me it’s not even close! EA has moved to the Frostbite engine for EA Sports…

Unboxing the Nightmare Before Christmas: Take Over the Holiday’s

There is a brand new Nightmare Before Christmas game available at retail this October, and our friends at Asmodee Canada and Mixlore were kind enough to send over the game a bit early. We’ve already played a few games and have enjoyed it immensely, but while we wait for that first impressions article, let’s take a look at what comes in the box! There isn’t a lot to talk about here. There are dozens of little cardboard tokens that will…

Detective Pikachu Returns Review

When Detective Pikachu launched on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 I was really excited. With amazing touch screen controls and a slew of puzzles and cases to work through, it really was an excellent deduction game starring everyone’s favourite Pokemon. Tim, in his own right, was a fantastic character as well, and as the two looked for Tim’s father, other great adventures unfolded. As much fun as I had with Detective Pikachu, I can admit that I was a bit…

Google Unveils the Pixel Watch 2

Google has been delivering high-end technology around AI for a while now and been putting it into people’s hands with their Pixel lineup. With the original Pixel Watch, they began expanding the capabilities of their software with a brand new hardware line. This year, improvements are coming to that new hardware line, with the Pixel Watch 2. The first Pixel watch laid the foundation for what Google wanted to do with their watches. Integrated with both FitBit ...

Google Unveils the Brand new Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

It’s another year, which means another line-up of Pixel phones. Last year, I think Google really went conservative on the various phone features and released a phone that wasn’t willing – and rightfully so in my opinion – to compete with the biggest and best on the market. This year we are seeing a slight price increase on both phones, but also a host of brand new features. Let’s take a look at what Google is promising with the Google…

Star Wars: Shatterpoint – Witches of Dathomir

I’ve enjoyed almost every figure released for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, and I knew there would eventually be a day where a set of figures released and I was less than enthused. To be fair, my excitement level for Mother Talzin and the acolytes was not huge, but as with all Shatterpoint figures, I was willing to give them a try. I should note that, as a non-competitive player, my father-in-law and I, and our group of gaming friends, love to…
