Unboxing the Nightmare Before Christmas: Take Over the Holiday’s

There is a brand new Nightmare Before Christmas game available at retail this October, and our friends at Asmodee Canada and Mixlore were kind enough to send over the game a bit early. We’ve already played a few games and have enjoyed it immensely, but while we wait for that first impressions article, let’s take a look at what comes in the box! There isn’t a lot to talk about here. There are dozens of little cardboard tokens that will…

Detective Pikachu Returns Review

When Detective Pikachu launched on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 I was really excited. With amazing touch screen controls and a slew of puzzles and cases to work through, it really was an excellent deduction game starring everyone’s favourite Pokemon. Tim, in his own right, was a fantastic character as well, and as the two looked for Tim’s father, other great adventures unfolded. As much fun as I had with Detective Pikachu, I can admit that I was a bit…

Google Unveils the Pixel Watch 2

Google has been delivering high-end technology around AI for a while now and been putting it into people’s hands with their Pixel lineup. With the original Pixel Watch, they began expanding the capabilities of their software with a brand new hardware line. This year, improvements are coming to that new hardware line, with the Pixel Watch 2. The first Pixel watch laid the foundation for what Google wanted to do with their watches. Integrated with both FitBit ...

Google Unveils the Brand new Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro

It’s another year, which means another line-up of Pixel phones. Last year, I think Google really went conservative on the various phone features and released a phone that wasn’t willing – and rightfully so in my opinion – to compete with the biggest and best on the market. This year we are seeing a slight price increase on both phones, but also a host of brand new features. Let’s take a look at what Google is promising with the Google…

Star Wars: Shatterpoint – Witches of Dathomir

I’ve enjoyed almost every figure released for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, and I knew there would eventually be a day where a set of figures released and I was less than enthused. To be fair, my excitement level for Mother Talzin and the acolytes was not huge, but as with all Shatterpoint figures, I was willing to give them a try. I should note that, as a non-competitive player, my father-in-law and I, and our group of gaming friends, love to…

Canopy: Evergreen – Interview with the Designer

Canopy Evergreen is a really cool card drafting and set collection experience where you will be planting and growing trees on your own personal board. The experience and components look fantastic, so we were instantly intrigued! We asked designer Tim Eisner a few questions about the game, check them out below! You can check Canopy Evergreen kickstarter page as well for additional details. Can you give me an elevator pitch for Canopy: Evergreen? For our ...

The Party’s Over! – Star Wars: Shatterpoint Expansion Review

Atomic Mass Games can go ahead and keep releasing packs of figures, because I’m finding more and more that even when I’m sceptical – ahem Padme ahem – they surprise me in the best possible way. I love having more Jedi to use out on the Shatterpoint battlefield, so Mace Windu and The Party’s Over expansion pack was something I was really excited about. Let’s dive in and see how good it is! Usually I like to wax poetic a…

The Google Pixel Tablet – A Few Months Later Review

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of reviewing the Google Pixel Tablet. While many – including ourselves to some extent – hammered the product for not being the most powerful device on the market, I’ve found myself using this tablet more and more around the house. I’ve since purchased another one. The cat is probably out of the bag on what I think of this tablet at this point, but let’s recap how I’ve been using it! After…

More Playmobil 1.2.3 Featuring Winnie-the-Pooh!

A few years ago, we received some of Playmobil’s 1.2.3 lineup of toys. These toys were aimed at children ages 1 – 3, and our son had a blast using the small water park we received. The 1.2.3 sets tend to be a big chunkier than standard Playmobil, and include characters with less articulation and accessories. As they are toys aimed at young children, these are by no means negatives about the toys! In fact, the 1.2.3 lineup from Playmobil…

Descent: Legends of the Dark – Betrayers War Expansion Unboxing

Just typing that title was a lot of work, but the brand new expansion of Descent: Legends of the Dark arrived last week from my friends at Asmodee Canada and Fantasy Flight Games, and I couldn’t wait to get it opened up. Before we hop into what comes in this expansion, it’s worth noting that this is an expansion, and a copy of the base Descent: Legends of the Dark is required to play! Not Concerned About Cardboard this time…
