This massive prize pool is made possible by The International Compendium, a virtual book that fans can purchase to support the tournament. 25% of all Battle Pass sales go directly into the prize pool, making it the largest crowdfunded prize pool in eSports history.

With such a large prize pool on offer, it’s no wonder that The International attracts some of the best Dota 2 teams from around the world. In 2022, a total of 18 teams competed for their share of the massive prize pot.

The first-place team was awarded just under $9 million, the largest single prize payout in eSports history. The second-place team took home just under $3 million, while the third-place team earned just under $2 million.

The 2022 Dota 2 finals were won by the team Tundra eSports. They defeated Team Secret in the grand finals 3-0. The win earned Tundra eSports the title of the best Dota 2 team in the world. And with only five maps lost throughout the entire competition, Tundra eSports definitely deserved the title.

As for NA Dota, the scene is still very much alive and well. The 2021/2022 tour had a prize pool of $205,000 USD, with Quincy Crew securing the first place and taking home $30,000.
