The Game Awards Announces Their Game of the Year Nominees

As the year 2020 comes to an anticipated end, gamers will have to begin thinking about their game of the year. The Game Awards recently announced the titles they have currently in the running for the distinction.

Game of the Year Nominees - 2020

With the outbreak of the COVID-19, many have been working at home and, as a result, had more time to play videogames. This makes it an interesting year for the award, as many have played more games than usual. Even though I haven’t had the opportunity to play many, I know there were a plethora of phenomenal titles released this year.

The Game Awards recognized some of these titles on Wednesday by nominating them for their game of the year awards. Now, it is up to gamers to head over to the website and vote for their favorite title in the running.

Doom Eternal, the Final Fantasy VII remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and The Last of Us Part II were all nominated. Sadly, I’ve only had the chance to play two of these titles, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part II. However, I have heard excellent things about all the nominees and am excited to see which title pulls it out.

Based on what I’ve heard throughout the year, this appears to be a pretty solid list of titles. I certainly need to get around to playing them all to see what the hype is about. Are there are any titles you feel are missing? Let me know in the comments.
