Nintendo Direct 9-13-17

There was a Nintendo Direct today! If you missed it, please check out the video below and then please come back for my impressions on it.

I have a split opinion about today’s Nintendo Direct. I thought that the 3DS lineup was ok, meanwhile the Switch’s lineup was awesome. I’ll talk about the 3DS lineup first.

The first game to be shown off in today’s Nintendo Direct was the upcoming Pokémon games. As you may know, I’m not a fan of the series, so I was underwhelmed by this start to the Direct. I won’t say anything else. If you’re a fan, I’m sure you’re excited about it.

Next up, we got some “headlines” for some 3DS games. The only real surprise in the mix was Minecraft for the 3DS. I don’t think anyone ever thought this game would come to the system. I’m sure there are some people who are excited about this!

Also, a new Kirby game, Kirby Battle Royle, was shown off. I thought it looked ok, but I was expecting a bit more from this upcoming game.

The Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga remake looked a little bit better this time. I’m still very interested in the new mini-game. And another Mario related game shown was the new Mario Party The Top 100 game that’ll be out this year!

There wasn’t too many other interesting games in the mix. We did see some cool Atlus games like Alliance Alive. I was hoping we’d see Dragon Quest 11 from Square Enix, but no such luck this Direct. Hopefully next time!

Of course, it was the Nintendo Switch that held most of the surprises this time around.

We finally got a release date for Xenoblade Chronicles 2: December 1st! I think the game looks amazing.

Perhaps the biggest announcement during this Direct was that the newer Doom and Wolfenstein games will be coming to Nintendo Switch. I wasn’t looking at twitter at the moment but I bet people went wild about it. Bethesda will be bringing three major games to Nintendo Switch: Doom, Wolfenstein, and Skyrim! A Nintendo system and Bethesda! WOW.

Also shown during the Direct was Project Octopath Traveler! And there’s a demo coming out for the game TODAY for Nintendo Switch. I have to go download after I finish writing this. I will try to have impressions of it tomorrow on this site.

I’m trying to remember all the news here. There was a lot of stuff shown during this Direct. I know I should mention the Arcade Archives coming to the Switch. That looks pretty cool. Hopefully those games are priced cheap though.

The Kirby game Switch game was shown and its called Kirby Allies. It looked pretty good!

Nintendo also announced that Dragon Quest Builders will be coming to the Nintendo Switch next year. That game looks like the best Minecraft-type game yet. I love Dragon Quest and I’m sure I’ll enjoy that one.

Resident Evil Revelations was mentioned, various sports games, and LA Noire. Nothing was shown of that last time. It sounds cool though.

And of course Super Mario Odyssey was shown off at the end of the Nintendo Direct. My jaw was on the floor there. This new Mario game just looks better and better.

I know theres a bunch of games I didn’t talk about here. Sorry that I forgot some things. I do think those are the highlights!

I wish Dragon Quest 11 had been shown and an Animal Crossing Switch had been announced. Other than that, maybe a Super Mario Odyssey demo. Yeah, that would’ve been overkill.

Overall, it was a pretty good Nintendo Direct. What did you think of it?
