A Short Trip to the Graveyard: A Look At the PS4 MediEvil Demo

A couple of days ago, Sony released a demo for the MediEvil PS4 remake. I checked out the demo and now I’m ready to give my impressions of it.

The MediEvil demo isn’t very long, but it did leave an impression on me.

I vaguely remember playing the original game. I thought it was neat but I don’t think I played it very much. It may even have been a demo that I played of the original MediEvil.

The remake has brand new graphics and full voice acting. I was impressed by the graphics from the get-go. Awhile back, I saw a preview for this MediEvil remake and didn’t think much of its graphics. But the demo’s graphics floored me!

MediEvil looks wonderful on the PS4. Sir Dan and his surroundings are so very detailed. It really feels like you’re playing a really good Dreamworks cartoon. What I heard of the voice acting lives up to that feel.

Meanwhile, the gameplay is a mixed bag. The combat is pretty basic but kind of fun. The game’s camera isn’t good though. I had to adjust it a lot!

Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of the combat or the camera, I loved exploring the dungeon and graveyard. I think the graphics are wonderful and it looks like a neat game.

I do wish there was more to the combat, perhaps there is in the full game because more weapons were hinted at, and that it had a better camera. This game badly needs auto-targeting like many Zelda games and other 3D games have.

Still MediEvil looks like it could be a good game. In my opinion, a game should never be judged solely on its demo, especially one that appears to have potential. The actual game could be even better. Lets hope so.

Do you like the MediEvil demo? Are you looking forward to the full game?
