2020 was the strangest year for esports as well as for the other industries. We missed numerous traditional and esports events due to the pandemic. Regardless of what happened last year, we were still able to enjoy some amazing moments and tournaments.

This year is going great so far as the effects of COVID-19 are radically decreasing. We are looking forward to some amazing upcoming events. Below, we will go through some tournaments that will help you forget all the sorrows from last year. Here are the five most anticipated eSports events for 2021:

  • League of Legends World Championship

League of Legends World Championship is fast approaching, and all participants have high hopes for their teams. Last year, the event took place in Shanghai, and North America wasn’t able to qualify for the playoffs. However, this year, LCS teams are ready to surprise the audience with massive roster changes.

With new branding and logo, they are all set for the tournament this year. Bjergsen is no more a mid-layer for the TSM. In fact, you will see him as the coach on the team. Cloud9 upgraded their team with G2 star Perkz and hired Mithy, a former Fnatic coach, as their head coach. This year, the tournament will take place in Shenzhen, China.   • The Call of Duty League Championship

Another reason to get excited this year is the Call of Duty League Championship. You will notice the plethora of changes in the second season of this tournament. Participants will compete against each other in Black Ops Cold War, which is the latest update. Previously, the championship included Modern Warfare. The change is not limited to one version of the game. In fact, the competitive format changed from four vs. four to five vs. five. There are some changes in the teams for the next season. But, several teams completely changed the roster, such as Minnesota ROKKR and Paris Legion.

  • Overwatch League Grand Finals

Overwatch League Grand Finals is a super event that you shouldn’t miss. The tournament includes 20 teams, but the organizers split last year’s games between the Asian and North American playoff due to COVID-19 restrictions. Two top teams from both playoffs faced each other in Korea for offline double-elimination matches. The San Francisco Shock defeated Seoul Dynasty by 4-2 in the grand finale.

  • Rainbow Six Invitational

The Rainbow Six Invitational is the accumulation of the Rainbow Six Seige esports. The best teams from the world compete against each other in double-elimination rounds. The winners qualify for double-elimination playoffs. This event will likely take place somewhere in Europe. This year, you will notice some changes in the format and teams. Previously, there were 16 teams in the tournament. However, the organizers are increasing competition by adding four new teams.

  • IEM Season XV World Championships (CS: GO)

The Intel Extreme Masters Season XV World Championships include various major CS: GO competitions that will surely make the event memorable. The 2021 event took place in Feb 2021, wherein fans witnessed some amazing skills from talented teams. Twenty-four teams were trying to qualify for the main group stage. GMB winning the first prize got $400,000, whereas VP and Liquid were the runner-ups.
