Sagebrush

I’m not sure what to think about Sagebrush. So I decided that instead of writing a review of this game, I’d just write up my thoughts on it. What is Sagebrush? Should you download it? Let’s check it out.

Sagebrush is a first person game that can best be described as a “first person adventure game”, though there isn’t much adventure to be had. The story is about a cult. Your character is going to the cult compound to figure out what happened to the group. When you get there, no one is there. The place is pretty empty.

And thats one of the biggest problems with Sagebrush. It just feels empty. You walk around the cult compound with no one to interact with and an item here or there to either pick up or examine. The story is pretty dull. The game doesn’t give you much direction as to what your supposed to do, so you have to figure it out or go look at a video online for help. The adventure is just ho-hum. I don’t get this game at all. What’s the point?

Sagebrush isn’t a very interesting game. With little to nothing to do, the words “walking sim” come to mind. The game does have good controls. Its graphics are not bad but not great either. It has a very Nintendo 64-like first person look. There is no music and little sound effects. It does have a lot of voice acting and that seems good.

Overall, I just don’t understand Sagebrush. What is the point of the gameplay and the story? I found this game to very uninteresting. I admit that I haven’t finished the game. I just don’t see the point. Thats another reason I decided to not review this game. I couldn’t get into it. I didn’t understand it. I just gave up. With that attitude, I don’t think its fair to give the game a review score. I don’t recommend the game at all.

Thanks to Ratalaika Games for providing a digital code for this game. Sagebrush is available now on the Nintendo Switch eshop.
