Gigapocalypse

Do you like movies like Godzilla Vs. Kong? Classic arcade games like Rampage? If you answered yes to both, then you should check out Gigapocalype. Here is our review of the game for the Xbox Series S!

In Gigapocalypse, you play as Kajju, aka giant monsters, that escape from a lab and then go on to rampage through 2D, side scrolling cities. You can choose from several monsters to play as and you unlock cities as you progress in the game.

The monsters automatically attack but you can use one of the controller buttons to execute a special attack. Be careful though because the special attack is limited by a meter, and you need to pick up more monster specific material to recharge it. Destroying buildings and picking up items along the way is important. The gameplay is simple but its fun.

A monster raising aspect of Gigapocalype helps the game from only being a simple destroy everything game though. You “raise” your monster and it’ll make the monster stronger and allow you to progress in the game more. The gameplay cycle of destroy things and then go back and feed/pet/etc your monster is very nice.

If you like classic games like Rampage or monster movies like Godzilla Vs. Kong, then you’ll likely enjoy Giapocalypse. Its got good visuals and sound too.

Gigapocalypse isn’t a powerhouse game on the Xbox Series S; the graphics are retro-ish 2D pixel artwork. The look fits the game well. Its detailed too, with each monsters looking unique and all the environments having a lot of going on. Look at all those small people run! Plus all the buildings, cars, and more. It’s a neat looking game.

There is also some cool sound effects, from ambulances to people screaming. Gigapocalypse is a small but very enjoyable game.

Gigapocalypse is a game that fans of old school monster games like Rampage or fans of movies like Godizilla Vs. Kong would enjoy. If you don’t like any of that, then you likely won’t get this game. Gigapocalypse is all about destroying things and feeding the monsters. It’s a fun, simple game for monster fans of all ages.

Gigapocalyspe gets an 7.5 out of 10.

A digital code was provided for this review. Gigapocalyspe is now available on the Xbox Series S.
