Sony Shows off it’s Versatility in State of Play

PlayStation has a ton of great AAA titles heading for the console in late 2021 and early 2022, but yesterday’s State of Play wasn’t about any of first party titles. Instead, I fully believe that Sony showed off their versatility in what they can offer their fans, with a ton of great and diverse exclusive titles. Anytime Nintendo does a direct and leaves out the big boys – aka, Zelda, Mario, etc – hardcore indie fans are always abuzz, while most Nintendo fans are left disappointed. That wasn’t the case here.

It’s the variety of games shown by Sony that has me the most impressed. They have Early Access titles coming, they are working on new PSVR content, and so much more. Let’s dive into a few of my favourite announcements from Sony’s latest State of Play!

Death Loop

For all the worry of will they or won’t they with upcoming Bethesda titles, PlayStation fans can get excited for at least one more Bethesda exclusive on PS5 – Death Loop.

Moss: Book II

When I said Sony was showing some diversification, I was serious! Moss: Book II is the latest game coming to Playstation VR, and one that looks incredibly promising. The original Moss VR game was an absolute blast, and it was one of the few VR titles I couldn’t put down, even if my head was spinning out of control. Moss: Book II looks like the next step in this potentially long running franchise, and I’m here for it!

ARCADEGEDDON

Did someone say Early Access? Although many folks are not a fan of Early Access titles, I believe when used properly, it can actually be a big help to a games future development and success. I think ARK: Survival Evolved is a great example of this. This multiplayer shooter is sure to excite folks who just love to have a damn good time, and it should – while still in early access, this is easily one of the most impressive titles of the entire event!

There were many other games shown off during the State of Play, but these were the three that caught our eye. Fans also got a decent dose of Death Stranding Directors Cut, Hunter’s Arena, and the sequel to Judgement, Lost Judgement. All these titles look to be impressive when they launch, which means it’s a good time to be a PlayStation fan!
