GamesReviews and Adam’s Nintendo World Bringing You a Voice Translated Yo-Kai Watch on Nintendo Switch

The original Yo-Kai Watch was a fantastic title that was given a Western release around 2014, and since then, the Yo-Kai Watch fever has hit a select few in the west. Unfortunately, just as Level-5 began porting over and releasing new titles on Nintendo Switch, they also closed down their North American offices, killing any hope of getting these titles localized in the west. So for longtime fans, the only way to play the remake of Yo-Kai Watch, or Yo-Kai Watch 4, is to play the Japanese version and hopefully find people to help with the translation.

Our good friend Abdallah Smash has some great videos for Yo-Kai Watch 4 that provide good enough translation for folks to actually play through the game and know whats going on! We’ve been using it for our own playlist of the game, which you can find here.

There has also been some fan work to create subtitles for both Yo-Kai Watch and Yo-Kai Watch 4, but to load these subtitles onto your Nintendo Switch, you’ll need to have it modded so you can access the inner workings of the system to change language files. So in partnership with GamesReviews.com, Adam’s Nintendo World is going to play through the entire Yo-Kai Watch game on Nintendo Switch, providing professional translation services for every line of story dialogue in the game. What won’t be translated?

  • Dialogue with NPCs that do not have quests.
  • Dialogue from store clerks, and Yo-Kai the moment you befriend them.

How can you help support this work? Be sure to:

  1. Bookmark GamesReviews.com so you get the latest information regarding this translation!
  2. Subscribe to Adam’s Nintendo World on YouTube and turn on notifications
  3. Follow GamesReviews, Adam Roffel, and Adam’s Nintendo World on Twitter!

We will also provide each chapters dialogue in a written story here on GamesReviews. Want a snippit?

Chapter 1.

That day in the forest was the day everything changed.

*Enter Name – NATE *

Eddie: Ta-Daaaa

Katie: Whoaaaaa…those are awesome!

Nate: Did you catch all of those yourself?

Eddie: Pretty Rad, huh? Yeah, we’ve got a forest out behind our vacation home.

Eddie: There are a TON of bugs there, literally. I’m always finding rare ones back there.

Bear: I caught most of ‘em though! Eddie got squeamish a couple times.

Bear: Hey, Nate, you’re collecting bugs for your summer project too, right?

Nate: Yeah. I’m having a little trouble getting motivated is all…

Bear: You haven’t even started, have you? I bet you don’t got a single bug yet!

Bear: I bet you end up pulling legs off a spider and sayin’ it’s some rare insect!

Bear & Eddie: Bwahahahahah!

Katie: Come on. Leave him alone, Bear. Nate is just pacing himself.

Nate: Yeah, and besides, I’ve already caught some. A bunch, as a matter of fact!

Bear: OK then, prove it.

Eddie: Yeah, where are these bunches and bunches of bugs ya got?

Nate: Well, I don’t have them WITH me. If I had them on me, I’d show you! Duh.

Bear: Yeah? Bring ‘em next time. I’d like to see your bucket of dried-up fruit flies.

Eddie: Let us know when we can see your “collection,” Nate.

*Eddie and Bear walk off*

*Nate heads home*
