More Thoughts From Me: Top 10 Nintendo Games on the Switch

The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out later this week. While the original Switch still will have some games for awhile coming out, the focus will largely be on the new system. As we move into a new era, let’s look back at my top 10 Nintendo Games on the Switch!

Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out this week! I thought now would be a great time to take a look at what my top 10 games of the original Nintendo Switch are. These will only be games that are published by Nintendo. There are plenty of third party games that I love on the system and maybe I’ll do a list sometime about them but for now I’ll focus on the best Nintendo games for the Nintendo Switch.

Note: these are my personal favorite Nintendo games on the Switch. There is no correct list and likely your favorites will be totally different from mine. Here we gooooo:

10. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: Mario Kart 8 originally was on the Wii U and it was a great there. However when it came to the Switch, it got even more content and then over time, even more characters and racetracks were added. Mario Kart 8 is such an amazing game!

9. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: This game is possibly my all-time favorite fighting game. I love how many Nintendo characters are packed into this but also we got so many third party characters: from Simon Belmont to Solid Snake to Joker to Cloud and more. Not only that but the game is so much fun.

8. Kirby and the Forgotten Land: I really like Kirby games and it was wonderful to see Kirby get a 3D game that was really fun and introduced some cool new abilities. I like this game a lot.

7. Fire Emblem Engage: Many would put Three Houses here and while I do like that game, I like Engage even better because it focuses much more on the tactical gameplay and feels more like old school Fire Emblem.

6. Super Mario Wonder: When a new 2D Mario was announced for Switch, many of us wondered what it could possibly do different from the other 2D games. What we got with Super Mario Wonder felt so fresh and new. This game is bursting with creative energy and joy. Its wonderful.

5. Luigi’s Mansion 3: My favorite of the Luigi’s Mansion games. The third is just pure fun, with a funny story and wonderful gameplay. The graphics are fantastic too. This is a great game to play around Halloween!

4. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: We finally got to play as Zelda! I absolutely loved that plus the echoes were a lot of fun to play with. Echoes of Wisdom is a stand out Zelda game.

3. Super Mario Odyssey: Without a doubt, this is my favorite 3D Mario game. I love Super Mario Odyssey’s gameplay. Cappy is awesome. Its such a fun game.

2, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Breath of the Wild is a great game but in my opinion, Tears of the Kingdom is even better. Tears took everything that was amazing about Breath and added so much more. This is such a vast and amazing game.

1. Animal Crossing New Horizons: For anyone who knows me, this shouldn’t be a surprise. Animal Crossing New Horizons is the game I got my Switch for in the first place. I knew an Animal Crossing would come to this system sooner or later. And when it did, it didn’t disappoint! And in fact, it only got better and better with time. I love Animal Crossing New Horizons and still play it to this day. Its my number one game from Nintendo on the Switch.

There were so many amazing games on the Switch. The Splatoons should be here too. Breath of the Wild should be. The Pokémon games (especially Brillant Diamond). Super Mario RPG. The Xenoblade games. So many more. The Nintendo Switch has been such a great system. And speaking personally, this is not the end for me. I’ll keep playing my Nintendo Switch. I likely won’t get a Switch 2 for a long while.

What have been your favorite Nintendo games on the Switch?

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Some day soon I should do a list of the wonderful third party games (and/or indies) on the Switch!
