More Thoughts From Me: Restoring the Jedi Order

A brand new Star Wars game, Jedi Survivor, is out right now. I haven’t had the chance to play that game yet, but I did start playing Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order (the prequel to Survivor) recently. I thought I’d talk about that a bit.

Back in 2020, I talked about Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and how much I liked it. It was one of my favorite games of 2019! And so you’d think I would’ve have finished it…

You would be wrong. I really liked the game but I got distracted by other games, never went back to it, and eventually traded in my PS4 copy. I never thought I’d play the game again.

The recent Jedi Survivor hype though got to me. I had noticed that Fallen Order was on Game Pass and had thought about downloading it again. Well, since I couldn’t play Jedi Survivor yet, I figured I’d play Fallen Order again and maybe try to beat it this time. And you know what, I forgot how much I loved this game.

As I noted in my previous column about Fallen Order, this game is very much Uncharted meets Prince of Persia meets Star Wars. Though it also has a bit of Metroid in its vains. There is a lot of exploration in this game and some backtracking too. It also looks even better on the Xbox Series S! I really love these graphics.

I have been watching Star Wars Rebels lately and there is a lot of similarity between the two. Cal, much like Erza, gets picked up by a group that travels the galaxy causing trouble for the Empire. I also loved seeing the same holocron message with Obi Wan that was in Rebels pop up in Fallen Order. Its amazing how connected the Star Wars universe is from TV to movies to video games.

The other thing that Rebels and Fallen Order have in common is that both feature characters trying to restore the Jedi order. Rebels has them going around causing trouble for the Empire and training Erza to be a Jedi. Meanwhile Fallen Order has Cal training to be a Jedi and looking around for pieces of the order’s past in order to build its future (and also causes trouble for the Empire). The game and the cartoon are excellent companion pieces.

I hope I finish Jedi Fallen Order this time. I also hope I get to play its sequel eventually. Maybe it’ll pop up on Game Pass given some time!

What do you think of Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order? Have you played it sequel?

More Thoughts From me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Can’t wait to see where Cal goes next!
