Why I’ll Buy Hogwarts Legacy on Nintendo Switch

This article needs to begin with a pretty big caveat. If Hogwarts Legacy is not running natively on the Nintendo Switch – which means it can only be played via the cloud – and as long as it looks half decent – like Skyrim or the Witcher III – then I will most definitely be playing this game on Nintendo Switch. Graphics are important to me, and when I play games like Horizon Forbidden West on my PlayStation 5 and Forza Horizon 5 on my Xbox Series X, I’m blown away. But there is something portable about the Switch that makes it my ideal console for gaming.

Yes, the Nintendo Switch has a lot of exclusive titles, so I think owning one for any gamer is a must. But I’ve begun to realize that even some multiplatform games, even though they look worse on Nintendo Switch, are best played on this console. And I’m using Skyrim as an example.

Now I know, Skyrim is quite old and has been put on every console known to man. In fact, I think I could probably play Skyrim on my fridge if I wanted to. That being said, I’ve been incredibly sick this weekend, as has my wife. We’ve both been laying on our couches upstairs binge watching television and playing on our Switches. How amazing it is to me that games like The Witcher III: Wild Hunt and Skyrim are playable on this hand held from Nintendo. Does it look the best? No. Does it perform the best? No. I’ve played both these titles on PlayStation and Xbox, and I know they perform better there.

But there isn’t the same protability on those consoles as there is on the Nintendo Switch. So even though the game might not perform as well, I still want to play it on my Switch. And that will carry over to Hogwarts Legacy, assuming the Switch version can perform at a satisfactory level. I can deal with a few frame rate drops, sub part graphics, and more, as long as I can play it mobile!
