Turtle Power: TMNT Nostalgia and Shredder’s Revenge

When I was a kid I collected Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys and comics. I watched the cartoon and the movies. I even got to see the Turtles musical live! Of course I played the video games too. Yes I was a TMNT fan. Actually I still am. And so the announcement of Shredder’s Revenge made me very happy. Its time to get nostalgic and also look ahead to the new game!

My Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fandom can be traced back to the 90s cartoon. I always had to get up on Saturday mornings to watch that. Mikey was (and is) my favorite Turtle!

Then I discovered the Archie TMNT comic books. I still have all of my comics from back in the day.

I wanted to check out everything to do with the Turtles: movies, comics, toys, and of course the video games.

My absolute favorite TMNT video game was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game for the NES. I played that game a lot. I never beat the game, but I loved it.

I even got to play it in an actual Arcade once! That was awesome.

I haven’t played all the Turtles games over the years but I’ve always been interested when a new one came out. Most of them haven’t looked that good though. Nothing seemed to be as good as those NES/SNES Turtles games….

And then, just recently, a new Turtles game was announced. This one is being made by the people who did Panzer Paladin. I loved that game!

Shredder’s Revenge is the new game and it looks fantastic. It doesn’t hurt that the visuals are inspired by the 90s cartoon. I am still a huge fan of that series. So much nostalgia.

And the gameplay reminds me so much of TMNT 2: the Arcade Game and other NES/SNES Turtles games. Its amazing to see a new game in the old school side scrolling beat ’em up style again. Shredder’s Revenge looks true to the TMNT roots.

I am beyond excited to get my hands on it.

Oh and I should mention that my mom is a Turtles fan too. She took me to see the TMNT musical live when I was kid. She also really liked the Gameboy TMNT Fall of the Foot Clan game. She has a Switch and I think she’ll enjoy this new Turtles game too.

I hope Shredder’s Revenge has local system-to-system multiplayer at the very least. Online would be wonderful too. Just so you know, I’m playing Mikey!
