Nintendo Switch 2017 Lineup

Thanks to an image Nintendo posted on twitter, we now know some of Nintendo Switch’s lineup for 2017. Please take a look at the following image and read my thoughts on the lineup.

Right now, we know five games that are coming to the Nintendo Switch on launch day: Breath of the Wild, 1-2 Switch, Super Bomberman R, Skylanders Imaginators and Just Dance. I can see Breath of the Wild and Skylanders selling well. I suppose Just Dance might do alright. I’m not sure how well 1-2 Switch will do in North America though. Casual gamers might get a kick out of it, but I think it’ll be ignored by hardcore gamers. I’m not sure how Super Bomberman R will do, but I think its looks very good!

Beyond launch day, I can see Mario Kart 8 Deluxe doing very well in April and Splatoon 2 selling well during the summer. Will Skyrim do well in Fall? I sure hope so. We need third party games such as Skyrim to be a hit on Nintendo Switch so that third parties will bring more games like it to the system!

Super Mario Odyssey is listed for “Holiday 2017”. I think that means it’ll be released in November or December. I hope to get a Switch for Christmas and want this Mario game to be one of my first games for the system!

Xenoblade 2, the other major Nintendo release we know about, has no specific date yet but it is listed for 2017. I hope it comes out this year! It would be great for Nintendo to have a good first year for the Switch.

There are some games on this list that I didn’t talk about because I either don’t know what they are, never played them, or don’t care about them. There may be a surprise or two among those releases.

Do I think this is the full Nintendo Switch lineup for 2017? No, I don’t. In fact, I can think of one game that we know is coming this year that isn’t on this list: Lego City Undercover. And I think we’ll see even more games come out this year, from Nintendo, third parties, and likely indies too.

Here is a video showing off Nintendo Switch’s lineup so far:

What game are you looking forward to the most on that list? Is there any game that you hope comes to the Switch that isn’t on this list?
