CSGO: Tips for Gameplay and Betting
At first glance, Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) looks like just another first person multiplayer shooter game. However, it is set to revolutionize gaming in a way that has never been seen before, more so even than game changers like Space Invaders, Sonic the Hedgehog or League of Legends.
The reason is that CSGO has captured the imagination more than anything else in the growing arena of esports, and has transformed the very nature of gaming into a global spectacle that attracts not just gamers but spectators, fans, sponsors, TV deals and, last but not least, the sports betting community.
Here, we take a look at how you can get a richer experience from CSGO, whichever angle you are approaching it from.
Online sports betting has really taken off over recent years. Every fan likes to place a little money on their favorite team to make things even more interesting, and to double the joy of a victory with some financial gain.
The sporting wager is a natural part of life in some countries, such as the UK, where you will see several bookmakers in every town. However, it is a different matter in the USA, where gambling is strictly controlled on a state by state basis.
The advent of online casinos and their branching out into the world of sports betting has opened things up to a certain extent. Within the US, there are still strict controls, but there are possibilities for placing bets using overseas sites, particularly where virtual currencies such as Bitcoin are accepted.
It is a natural progression that many of these casinos are now taking bets on esports as well as the more traditional sporting events. So how can you get involved?
Tips for esports bets
As with most sports betting, the online sites provide a broad range of bets that you can make. They also offer csgo match betting tips for those who are new to the concept and might get caught up in the different terminology. They will offer advice on the kinds of bet you can place, for example a simple bet on which team you think will win, or a more complex bet regarding specific battles and kills.
They will also explain the odds, the form of each team and the potential winnings if your bet comes through for you.
If you have never played before, it is worth giving a little background about CSGO. Counter Strike was first released in 1999 to relatively muted fanfare, but as we mentioned earlier, it is the latest version, CSGO, that has attracted all of the attention, thanks to the esports phenomenon.
The game itself comprises two teams of five. In essence, you are either on the side of the terrorists, who are looking to plant a bomb and kill the counter terrorists, or the good guys, who are attempting to prevent the bombing and take down the terrorists with lethal force.
Gameplay comprises 30 two minute rounds of frantic action.
Starting from the bottom
There are a total of 18 ranks, and these dictate the level of opposition against you will be pitched. Obviously, you will be looking to climb the ranks as fast as possible.
We all have to start somewhere, however, and that’s at ground zero. Starting from the bottom gives you the opportunity to learn the ropes and get to grips with the basic gameplay, and from that perspective, it makes sense that you will not actually be pitched against real opponents till you attain Rank 2.
Practice makes perfect, and as with anything, your best chance of improving and advancing through the ranks is by getting with a like minded bunch of gamers and playing as often as possible.
To rank up, you need to win games and to win games, your team must be the first to reach 16 points.
There are also things called Elo points that affect your ranking. Exactly how these are awarded is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, but in short, you achieve more for exceptional performances and for defeating players who are ranked higher than you.
If your team loses, you rank down. This sometimes seems unfair, as you might blow away all in your path and be let down by the other four team members, but that is the nature of team sports.
If you take some time away from the game, you might see that your rank has disappeared. Don’t panic, you haven’t got to start again from scratch. All you need to do is play one game, and your rank should be restored. However, some players have reported that they have been restored to a lower rank.
This only happens if you leave the game for more than 30 days, so the best advice is to play at least once a month and you will be fine.
