Stardew Valley Exhaustion Problem

I think I need to blast this PSA: If you are playing Stardew Valley, don’t let your energy bar fall to 0. You will severely regret doing that. The extra log you might chop, or the extra stone you might destroy, just isn’t worth what will happen after becoming exhausted. Let me explain.

When you let your energy bar hit the 0, your next day will be disastrous. Not only will you start with half an energy bar, but you will also not be able to get the chores you want to get done, done. And I became exhausted at the worst possible time, as you can see in the video above.

Parsnips are a 5 day cycle crop. You plant on day one, you harvest on Day 5. Guess which day I’ll have half energy? Yup, day 5. And that’s not necessarily a problem on the harvesting side – as I don’t believe picking up crops actually takes energy – but it will be a problem when I go to expand the farm and plant new parsnips.

Clearing more space for more fields costs energy, hoeing costs energy, and watering costs energy. With the roughly 1500 gold I will get from selling my current yield, I would be able to easily plant 50-60 new parsnip plants. Unfortunately, because of my bone head mistake of becoming exhausted the day before, that will no longer be an option.

While it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to wait an extra day, you have to understand that I’ve lost a day of productivity all around, not just when it comes to crops. I won’t be able to fish, clear more of my land, or get the wood necessary to fix the bridge down at the beach. I had goals established for where I wanted to be by Day 10 of spring, and unfortunately it doesn’t look like I’m going to hit that goal.

If I can stress something here when it comes to playing Stardew Valley, it is that you don’t want to become exhausted. Nothing – and I mean nothing – is worth having a whole day with only half your energy available to you. I might end up going to bed at like 3 PM!
