Lost Sonic Game Leaked

Sonic-x-treme

There have been so many Sonic games over the years that few of us consider the few that got away. That’s probably fair, as most of them were either terrible ideas or so early in development that we’ll never really know anything about them. Still, there was one that constantly got media attention, and that was the SEGA Saturn’s Sonic X-treme. Now, almost 20 years after it was supposed to release, everything that was finished is finally going to see the light of day.

The creator of the video above and one of the lead developers on the game, Chris Senn, leaked video (like the one above) several years ago, to prove that the engine had got to a playable state. The levels were thrown together quickly as a means of grabbing screenshots, but now, with the potential release of the 70% of the game, plus a level builder, it’s possible that fans could finally finish what SEGA couldn’t.

There’s not yet any word on the whens, hows or, maybe most importantly, the whys, but this is really a golden day for Sonic collectors. For more information, and for the chance to see when things have been fully released, keep checking back to Neogaf.
