Halo Master Chief Collection Matchmaking Still Not Fixed

halo 1

If you purchased Halo Master Chief Collection hoping to be playing hours upon hours of Halo online matches, your probably are experiencing a bit of frustration. It doesn’t appear as if your frustrations are about to end. A recent update to the matchmaking has proven unsuccessful as many people continue to experience numerous issues online.

I’ve also experienced these problems. Last night when trying to connect to a Big Team battle, I made it through the player search and through the map selection, only to get stopped at the map loading screen. No way to go back, and definitely not going forward. I had to shut off my Xbox and restart Halo to try again.

This time I decided on some smaller Team Slayer. The first match went off without a hitch, but as the second map loaded, I was booted from matchmaking. I gave up after that.

Fortunately, Halo Master Chief Collection doesn’t just have an online component. While I don’t feel it’s a legitimate reason to not be upset at 343, there is still lots of fun to have playing Halo offline. I was able to plow through a few matches of Halo with my brother, and we had (almost) as much fun as playing online.

If you continue to experience match making problems, it’s okay to be frustrated. But use this as a reason to dive into all the other content 343 has put in Halo Master Chief Collection. You’ll forget your matchmaking woes, at least for a little while. Below is an exert from 343 Industry Head Bonnie Ross via the Halo Waypoint website:

On the matchmaking front, we have encountered unexpected issues that were not apparent in our internal test environment and that have resulted in a frustrating experience, including long matchmaking times and low session success rates. Within 343 Industries and Xbox, I can assure you that resolving these issues is our #1 priority. We continue to partner with the Xbox platform team to analyze all data to make ongoing server-side adjustments to continually improve the matchmaking experience. We are also preparing additional content updates that will address existing campaign, UI, and other issues to improve the overall experience. With each update we will carefully analyze data to confirm that the improvements we’re seeing internally are also happening with fans at home.
