Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster Release Date Announced

finalfantasyx-limitededition_690x502

The release date for the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster has been up in the air since it was announced, to the confusion of fans. It was first revealed over two years ago and little was said about it for quite a while. Amazing for what is, effectively, just a re-release of two already completed games.

Although that’s not really doing them justice. While some HD collections are literally just the PS2 title running at a different resolution, the Final Fantasy X|x-2 HD remaster contains new scenes, new visuals and textures, newly recorded and remixed audio and remade menus. It’s about as close to a remake as you can expect while still using the original game as a base.

We’ll all get to judge whether those new features were really worth the long wait when the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is released on March 21st 2014 in Europe, and on the 18th in the US.

Along with the announcement of the release date, Square Enix also released a brand new trailer and a picture of the limited edition art book. The video isn’t as exciting as previous trailers (too much use of the word story), and contains some spoilers, so those new to both Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 should steer clear.

The art book looks great, although those of us that bought the Kingdom Heart limited edition know to keep expectations to a minimum.
