Sonic Returning to TV in Sonic Boom

Sonic Boom

If you’ve been “waaaaaiting” for news of a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog series, that wait will soon be over. SEGA have today announced a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog TV series for Cartoon Network entitled Sonic Boom. The first episode will air in Autumn 2014, and a global roll-out will happen from there.

This is fantastic news for those that have been unable to function without the moral compass that is Sonic Sez.

The new series will be made in CGI – an odd choice but one that might work – and will contain many of the official voice cast from the game franchise. And yes, that is Knuckles.

In fact, all the characters will receive slight make-overs for the TV show, although it seems that they’ll stay exclusive to Sonic Boom for now. At least, whoever handles Facebook was quick to say that they have nothing to share about Sonic after Lost World and that these designs have been made exclusively for Sonic Boom. That could potentially change, if the series is a success, but no need to panic just yet.

Sonic Boom is described as a “character-driven comedy” and will contain enemies familiar to Sonic fans and completely new. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose will star, as they try to take on Dr Eggman and his evil plans.
