Nintendo has hit its stride in the last month and they continue the success with more announcements today, including 3DS Smash Bros sales numbers, release dates for Super Smash Bros Wii U and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, and details on the second wave of Amiibo figures.

A million sales in a week is respectable for any big title, but Nintendo has found a way to move almost triple that worldwide. According to Game Informer, Nintendo has moved 2.8 copies of Super Smash 3DS making the game an instant hit. Here at Games Reviews, we loved the title, giving it a solid 9.5/10.

On the heels of this great sales news, Nintendo shut up the skeptics by announcing a 2014 release date for Super Smash Bros Wii U. The game is due out November 21st in North America and December 5th in Europe. Personally, and launch like this should be worldwide, but unfortunately in this situation, it is not. The North American release coincides with the launch of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire; hopefully, the difference in platforms is enough to move both of these giants at retail.

Also getting a release date and price is Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Captain Toad always felt like a smaller Nintendo title, and this was confirmed by Nintendo when they listed the game with a December 5th release date and a suggested 39.99 price tag. I’m definitely looking forward to this game, although since it comes out so close to Smash Bros, I can’t help but feel this could be put on the back burner for many Nintendo fans. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game during an E3 press even in Toronto in June; my thoughts can be found here.

Finally, some details have come out about the second wave of Nintendo Amiibo characters. After the first round of Amiibos land in November, round two – Diddy Kong, Zelda, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon – will launch in early December.

Stay tuned to GamesReviews for all the latest news on Smash Bros, Captain Toad, and Amiibos. Reviews should be available ahead of launch.
