Final Fantasy XIII PC Pre-load available, File Size Revealed

Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII is going to be released on Steam tomorrow, and Square Enix are helping out those that have already bought it by allowing them to download the files ahead of time. This can be done now. It’s also had the added effect of letting us know just how much you’re going to need to download – and it’s absolutely huge.

Lightning’s first adventure will weigh in at a rather massive 59GBs according to one Neogaf user. While that’s not especially big for a PC game, you have to remember that this was a relatively early PS3 title, and that Grand Theft Auto V on PS4 takes up only 50GB of space.

It’s hard to comment on why it would be such a huge file, outside of uncompressed FMVs, audio and improved visuals, but that’s just the obvious stuff. In the mean time, it might be worth starting downloading if you can. For some users, the massive task of downloading Final Fantasy XIII might interfere with actually enjoying the purchase if you’ve got terrible internet and didn’t realize how long it’d take you to grab it.

Final Fantasy XIII is available to purchase and download on Steam right now. It’ll be released tomorrow.

UPDATE

Oddly enough, there seems to be several versions of Final Fantasy XIII PC. One version, which is only 29GBs, is available in ASIA. This implies that there’s a dual audio option for English users, although that’s currently unconfirmed. There’s also a 49GB version, but there’s no real indication as to what differentiates that and the bigger 59GBs.
