Deus Ex Director’s Cut Has Performance Problems, Needs Regedit Fixes

deusex-directorscut-fixes_690x388

Thinking of picking up the Deus Ex Director’s Cut? It’s probably worth knowing that people with some pretty powerful rigs are finding the game runs terribly at times, with frame rate drops where there definitely shouldn’t be. Some are saying the port is obviously rushed, and given its original announcement as a Wii U exclusive, it’s not much of a surprise.

Even so, the technically minded people of the internet are already on the job, and have found a fix. It’s not even all that difficult to pull off.

Before doing anything, it’s probably worth double checking that you live up to the system specs for the new version of Deus Ex. It may be slightly different than the original, so it’s probably not safe to presume that just because you got 60FPS out of the first release, that you’ll be getting it out of this.

If all checks out and you’re still having issues (and by some of the early comments, it definitely seems like you’ll be having issues), this should sort you out:

This may resolve any stuttering issues and fps drops with DeusEx:HRDC –
In regedit open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC and locate AllowJobStealing – set it to 0 ; for NVIDIA owners – in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics locate AtiForceFetch4 – set it to 0
