Steamworld Dig 2 Impressions

Steamworld Dig and Steamworld Heist are two of my favorite games on the Nintendo 3DS. Both games are a lot of fun. And the developer of those games, Image & Form, just released another Steamworld game today: Steamworld Dig 2 for the Nintendo Switch! I’ve been playing the game for a couple of days now, thanks to Image & Form, and have some impressions of the game to share with you. How is Steamworld Dig 2 so far?

I’ve only been playing Steamworld Dig 2 for a couple of days now, but I can already tell that its the best Steamworld game that Image & Form has created yet!

In Steamworld Dig 2, you play as Dorothy. The protagonist from the first game, Rusty, has disappeared. Dorothy wants to find him. I won’t tell you anymore details about this game’s story. You’ll thank me! The first Streamworld game had some humor and an alright story, however the second game has lots of humor and a very intriguing story so far.

And Image & Form have created their best looking game yet with Steamworld Dig 2. Everything from the character designs to the level of detail in the environments looks amazing, on TV and in handheld mode. Steamworld Dig 2 is blowing me away!

Of course, none of this would matter if Dig 2’s gameplay sucked and thankfully, the game delivers a very addictive experience so far. Like the first game, you will be digging underground, finding jewels, and selling them. What sets this game apart from the first game is all the new powerups, a bigger town to explore, more things to find underground, and some really cool enemies. Steamworld Dig 2 has some boss fights too and those can be pretty tricky! Overall, I’m enjoying this game a lot so far.

Steamworld Dig 2 is out now for the Nintendo Switch. You should definitely buy it! I will try to have a review of this game next week. Please stay tuned to GamesReviews.com.
