Nintendo Names new CEO

Nintendo Tokyo named their new CEO yesterday and it isn’t really who many people would have expected. Tatsumi Kimishima will take over top duties at Nintendo, replacing fan favorite Satoru Iwata after Iwata suddenly passed a few weeks ago.

Kimishima is not the most obvious choice, and more than a few Nintendo fans were crying foul on Twitter in the past 24 hours. Kimishima is a former banker, but has also worked for many years at Nintendo of America. However, people who understand the situation better are claiming that the appointment of the 65 year old continues the change of attitude at Nintendo that within the last year under Iwata – I am mostly referencing Nintendo’s deal with DeNA Co. for making smart phone games.
Here is what an analysist at Tokai Tokyo Securities Co. had to say:

He’s been watching Mr. Iwata closely for a long time, so Mr. Kimishima is a safe choice to implement steps laid out by Mr. Iwata,
