Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition Announced for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch

The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles franchise premiered on the Nintendo Gamecube. The original game supported local multiplayer, but other players had to have their own GBA systems in order to play it. This first game in the series has been a Gamecube exclusive…until now! The first Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is returning in a remastered edition for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4 in 2019.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition has been announced for the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The game will be coming out in 2019.

This time, online multiplayer will be included and there will be new dungeons.

I remember playing Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube and not liking it. I didn’t have multiple GBA systems for the multiplayer and so I tried to play the game alone. In this first game, you or a friend had to carry around a bucket and stay within the magic circle that the bucket projected. In single player this was a very cumbersome experience. It didn’t look like it’d be fun in multiplayer either…

With online multiplayer added in the new version, this take on Crystal Chronicles could be better than the Gamecube original. I’m still not sure about it though. I wish Square had gotten rid of the bucket and just made it a straight dungeon crawler.

What do you think of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered? Will you be picking it up next year?
