Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD Review-in-Progress Part 3

In part 1 of my review in progress of Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD, I talked about the game’s story. In part 2, I talked about the game’s battle system and exploration. In part 3, I will talk about some of the faults of FF15 Pocket and one of my favorite things about it.

Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD has bad load times. When you first start up the game, every time, there is a black screen for awhile and then finally the words Square Enix appear. Upon going into the actual game, there’s a load time. Each time you go into a different area, there’s a load time. These are not short load times and they are frequent.

And then there are framerate issues with the game. I didn’t notice any slowdown during battles, however when you are just walking around sometimes the framerate will skip a bit. This is not a big deal, but its worth noting because these are noticable framerate drops.

Also there are a few glitches that I encountered in FF15 Pocket. I can’t remember where it happened, but I was playing this game and suddenly it completely closed and my Switch said there was Error. Thankfully the game autosaves and I didn’t have to go back far.

The second glitch I ran into was while fighting a battle. Here’s the screenshot:

That enemy is either standing on that roof or in the air. Either way, I couldn’t attack him and had to exit the game and re-enter. The autosave helped again by only taking me back before this battle.

Other than that, I did encounter some issues with party members getting stuck on an object or near a person and getting left behind. They’d eventually reappear in the group thanks to a cutscene.

I have no idea if there are any other glitches in the game. Those are the only glitches that I encountered.

Now, I don’t want this review-in-progress to be completely negative. I like Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD a lot despite its flaws. And one of my favorite things about it is its graphics.

FF15 Pocket Edition HD reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy 7. FF7 had cars like 15, sort of modern/furtistic tech, and even some the baddies, especially soliders in FF15, remind me of Final Fantasy 7’s bad guys. I also like the shorter characters in this game because they remind me of classic FF games like FF7.

There is a lot of detail in each place you visit in Final Fantasy 15 Pocket too. I liked the towns in the game a lot. And as I mentioned in another article, the Chocobo Post is awesome. Chocobo’s get a great spotlight in this game!

Yes, Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition HD has its flaws. None of those flaws will stop you from enjoying this game if you like its story battle system, and graphics.

Tomorrow, I’ll give you my review-in-progress conclusion. I’ve finished the game now. How did much do I like it?
