Xbox Chief Phil Spencer is Proud of Killing Kinect

kinect_690x354

It is no secret that Microsoft has completely rethought its views on their Kinect. At both their E3 press conference, and at Gamescon, the Kinect failed to get any attention. Even the new bundles – Fifa 15, Call of Duty, and Sunset Overdrive – are only available sans Kinect. If twitter is to be believed, Phil Spencer has not only given up on the over priced and under-utilized Kinect, but is also proud of it.

Here is a tweet that Phil Spencer retweeted earlier today:

While we shouldn’t look to deeply into a retweet like this, it probably does express, at least to a small degree, how Spencer feels about the Kinect. The decision to eliminate it from the console seems to be working, since Xbox One sales have increased dramatically since the Kinect-less systems hit store shelves. Only Phil Spencer can really elaborate on his own retweet. Until then, we can continue to sit, speculate, and debate the importance of Kinect to Microsoft’s latest console.

Although Spencer has replied to the original poster saying someone stole his phone, he has yet to delete his retweet.
