Into the Breach Preview

When I saw Into the Breach on the recent Nindie Nintendo Direct, I knew I wanted to review it. I love turn-based tactical games, plus Into the Breach just looked really neat. Thankfully, the developer provided me with a Nintendo Switch review code for the game. I’ve had a couple of days to play it and now want to provide you with some impressions. How is Into the Breach so far?

Into the Breach came out on the Nintendo Switch eshop on Tuesday. The game has you playing as an elite squad whose mission is to save the world from bug creatures that want to destroy everything. Your squad uses mechs, tanks, and such to complete each mission. If you fail, you’ll just jump to another timeline.

When all of your mechs/people are killed in Into the Breach, you disappear and then appear in a new timeline, basically starting over in their mission. Yes, you read that right. The people in this game travel from timeline to timeline hoping to finally save the world.

As for how the game plays, think Front Mission or Advance Wars (without the close up combat). Each unit can only move so far and attack once each turn. The combat works really well. I like the animation for the good guys and the bad guys too. Overall, I’m having a lot of fun with this game so far.

I do die a lot in Into the Breach. I’m not sure if I’m making a lot of progress yet. However, since each timeline is randomly generated that means that I’ve gotten to see a lot of different types of missions. There is some repetition in the missions, but I’ve found the combat and the missions to be very enjoyable anyway.

My review of Into the Breach isn’t ready yet. I will continue to play this game and hopefully have a review next week. Please stay tuned to GamesReviews.com!
