Uncharted Movie Dated for June 10th 2016

Very little has been said about the Uncharted film, nothing good anyway. The rights were sold years ago and a lot of people have been attached to the project, although nothing seems to have ever come of it. Obviously Sony are still working on it behind the scenes though, because they today announced a release date for the film.

The announcement was made alongside a series of developments to the Spider-Man series of films. A brand new Villains move, The Sinister Six, will be released in late 2016, pushing back The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to 2018. Set to take the film’s original place, the mention of the Uncharted movie was almost casually placed into Spider-Man 3’s original Summer slot.

Which is extra surprising, because we still know very little about it. We don’t even know who’s going to star as Nathan Drake. With less than two years to go until the release date, you can expect further information between now and next E3, with the hype building up over the following year.

It’s no surprise that the Uncharted movie is going to be making its debut around the same window as Uncharted 4. By the time the film comes out, fans will probably have had their fill of the next big sequel in the franchise and will be about ready for another chunk of the universe. Hopefully they’re already making the right decisions, and this won’t end up being yet another video game movie disaster.
